The English speaking fellowship meeting in Kristuskirken has worshipped together for almost 20 years. In November 2001 we took the decision to become an autonomous church affiliated to the Danish Baptist Union but still to maintain our close ties with Kristuskirken.
We are a Christian church, consisting of people who have discovered how a living faith in the Lord Jesus Christ brings meaning and excitement to our daily lives. If you are visiting Copenhagen then why not come along and visit us. If you are going to be here for a while why not make us your 'church home' while you are 'away from home'. |
[What's New]Here you can read about our Pastor, N. Erik Nielsen The site contains a list of our current ministries like worship services, bible studies, etc., including schedules and phone numbers. |

History of FIBC
The first Baptist congregation in Scandinavia began with the baptism of eleven new converts on the 30th of October 1839 here in Copenhagen. That church, now known as Kristuskirken (Christ’s Church), was also the first free church (not supported by the state church) established in Denmark.
The Baptists led the way to religious freedom here through ten years of persecution and struggle until free churches were finally legalized. Today, there are some 45 Baptist churches with about 6,000 members in the Danish Baptist Union.

Kristuskirken has shown vision and zeal in missions and evangelism, and today hosts five different language groups: Danish, English, Romanian, Yugoslavian and Spanish. Our English-speaking fellowship has been worshipping together for almost 20 years.
In November 2001, we decided to become an independent and autonomous congregation within the Danish Baptist Union, while maintaining our close ties with Kristuskirken. Throughout our years, God has blessed us with the ministry of several pastor families and countless individuals from all over the world who have worshipped with us and found meaningful Christian fellowship.
What We Believe
We believe in the inerrancy of the Bible as God’s revelation of Himself to mankind, in the sovereignty of God the Creator, in Jesus Christ His eternal Son, and in the Holy Spirit who lives in the hearts of all believers.

We preach the good news of Jesus Christ as Savior: that He died on the Cross and provided redemption for the sins of all repentant and accepting mankind, that He rose again from the grave on the third day, and that He lives eternally to mediate between God and mankind. Each believer is set apart for God’s own purposes in this life and for eternal life in Heaven.
Our Church Constitution with its teaching guidelines for our faith and practice is available to anyone who wants to know more about what we believe.
Our Vision Statement
Worship
God desires us to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth because He is worthy of our praise and thanksgiving. Since we are a diverse group of believers, we may have different preferences for worship styles, but we offer a blend of styles that remains God-focused.
Ministry
God wants to use us as His uniquely designed instruments to care for people and grow His church. We try to get you involved in the many ministries according to your giftedness and passion, whether your stay in Copenhagen may be brief or lengthy.
Fellowship
God brings us together to experience the blessings of encouragement and comfort, and to spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Your stay in Copenhagen may be temporary, but your friendships will hopefully last eternally.
Discipleship
God commissioned us to make disciples through baptizing them and teaching them to do all that He commands. We hope that you will grow spiritually through the Sunday messages and weekly Bible Studies.
Evangelism
God called us to be His witnesses on the earth and bear testimony of His glorious grace and mercy. The city of Copenhagen is our local mission field, and as you move to other parts of the globe, we send you to the worldwide mission field that is the ends of the earth.
We Welcome You…
. . . to join us in our Sunday worship services and weekly ministries. We hope you will find that our church is a place for you to grow in Christian maturity and a place that becomes a meaningful part of your experience in Denmark. Make our church your new home.
Our pastor is a Dane who was born and raised in Jakarta, Indonesia. He came to know Jesus as his Savior through the ministry of Baptist missionaries and their children. Graduating from the Jakarta International School, he went on to university at the George Washington University in Washington, DC where he received a degree in Accounting. There he also met and married his American wife Kim who received her degree in Special Education. Together, they then lived and worked in Jakarta before sensing that God was calling them into church ministry.

Responding to that call, they returned to the United States where N. Erik received his Masters of Divinity from Talbot School of Theology in Los Angeles, California. Upon graduating, he was ordained to ministry by the Whittier Hills Baptist Church in 1998 where he had completed his internship. They returned to Indonesia, accepting their first calling as Youth and Music Minister at the Jakarta International Baptist Church, serving there until the end of 2001. Since 2002, N. Erik, with Kim and their 5 children, Matthew, Stephen, Thomas, Timothy and Jonathan, have lived in Copenhagen, serving as our Pastor since October that same year.
