OUR Youth & Family Ministry philosophy

At FIBC, we believe that the responsibility for raising children and youth rests primarily with the parents (see Exodus 6:5-7). As a church, FIBC exists to support the parents as they fulfill their God-given responsibility to disciple the next generation. With this in mind, all FIBC Youth and Family Ministry programs and activities are designed to support the Christian principals that parents are already actively teaching. One way to think about this collaborative relationship is to visualize the color orange - which is made up of nine parts yellow (daily discipleship within the family) to one part red (supporting discipleship from the local church).

SOWING SEEDS. GROWING ROOTS. BEARING FRUIT.

In everything we do, our Youth & Family Ministries are here to equip and encourage families to (1) sow seeds of faith, (2) grow strong roots of relationship, and (3) bear fruit of faithfulness.

Equipping and Encouraging Families to Sow Seeds of Faith

We will support parents as they teach their young children a basic understanding of who God is and how He wants us to live. With their parents, we want young children to own 3 basic truths: (1) I need to make the wise choice, (2) I can trust God no matter what, and (3) I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

Equipping and Encouraging Families to Grow Roots of Relationship

We will support parents as they encourage their teenagers in an authentic personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and equip them with a Biblical worldview. With their parents, we want teenagers to have a lasting understanding of 3 things: (1) I am created to pursue an authentic relationship with my Creator, (2) I belong to Jesus Christ and define who I am by what He says, and (3) I exist every day to demonstrate God’s love to a broken world.

Equipping and Encouraging Families to Bear Fruits of Faithfulness

We will support young people and parents alike as they live out their faith each day: in their homes, their schools, their work places, and through service in the local church in bringing the Gospel to the world. We believe that every Christian - both men and women, boys and girls, whether single, married or divorced, young or old - can have a powerful and positive impact on the world around them (see Ephesians 2:10 and 1 Timothy 4:12). Our ministries will provide opportunities for youth, young adults, and parents alike to grow Spiritually and be faithful so that they bear lasting fruit through their lives.
